Corning 's Management Systems Overhaul Results in 20% Productivity Increase

The Client:

Corning Consumer Products is a division of Corning Inc., a diversified technology company and one of America's largest manufacturers of houseware products.

Challenges:

Corning 's mammoth distribution center had hundreds of workers making thousands of SKUs on thirteen assembly lines. Due to the immensity of the manufacturing and distribution process the company's scheduling, customer service and production efficiency was suffering.

Solutions:

Working with a team of contracted IBM specialists, ICI developed and implemented a call center management system for Corning 's Help Center within two months. The system collects information about consumer complaints and comments, and manages the catalog ordering operation. ICI also developed a finite scheduling system for Corning Consumer's packaging operation. Results ICI immediately improved Corning 's productivity by over 20%.
